TEST AND INVESTIGATION RESULTS

If your result show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you. You will be asked to make an appointment via the TOTAL DIGITAL TRIAGE SERVICE

If you do not hear from us, this will mean the result has been reported as 'normal with no further action required'.

You can also view your test result(s) via:

Test or investigations requested by a hospital consultant will not come to us and will go to the requesting hospital consultant. Please do not ask us for these results unless you have been specifically told to.

 

We do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect, we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

 

 

BLOOD TESTS

A blood test is when a sample of blood is taken for testing in a laboratory. They have a wide range of uses and are one of the most common types of medical test.

A blood test is used to assess your general health, confirm the presence of a bacterial/ viral infection or to see how well organs, such as your liver and kidneys, are functioning.

Blood test appointments, requested by GPs, need to be booked online, you will need to register an account on Swiftqueue to do this.

The current walk-in service will remain in place for those attending outpatient appointments.

 

X-RAYS

An X-ray is a widely used diagnostic test to examine the inside of the body and can be used to examine most areas of the body such as the bones and joints, and sometimes used to detect problems affecting soft tissue, such as internal organs.

An X-ray is usually carried out by a radiographer, a healthcare professional who specialises in using imaging technology, such as X-rays and ultrasound scanners.

X- ray requests are made electronically online by your GP and are immediately visible in the Radiology System.

Patients requiring any X-rays, except for chest X-rays will be contacted by radiology to arrange an appointment, you do not need to take anything with you. 

You will be asked to attend at one of the following hospitals:

  • Lister Hospital
  • QE2 Hospital
  • Hertford County Hospital
